Marisa H. Fisher, PhD, BCBA-D (she/her/hers)
is an Associate Professor of Special Education, co-founder and co-director of the MSU Center for Services, Training, and Research for Independence and Desired Employment (STRIDE), and a sibling of an adult with IDD. Dr. Fisher’s work centers around improving outcomes for youth with IDD, including secondary transition and post-school outcomes. Dr. Fisher has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She is currently PI on an IES partnership grant with Michigan Department of Education and Michigan Rehabilitation Services to evaluate the impact of a work-related social skills and vocational preparation program on employment outcomes for students in Project SEARCH programs across Michigan. Dr. Fisher is co-Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities and serves on five additional editorial boards.

Emily C. Bouck, PhD (she/her/hers) is a Professor of Special Education as well as Educational Psychology/Educational Technology and is currently the College of Education interim Associate Dean for Research at MSU. Her research focuses on secondary students with disabilities, in particular students with ID. She is the Executive Director for the Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities (DADD) of the CEC, and previously served within the President Line of DADD. She has over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles, including ones that include secondary data analysis involving issues of secondary education and transition from the NLTS2 and NLTS 2012 federal data sets.

Jonte’ (JT) C. Taylor, PhD is an Associate Professor of Special Education at PSU-University Park campus. His research includes examining effective strategies for inclusive STEAM education for students with disabilities, classroom/behavior management strategies for students and teachers, and improving school and classroom climates for students, parents, and teachers. Prior to working in higher education, he taught in a variety of settings including juvenile justice and self-contained classroom settings and with a variety of age groups including adults with moderate to severe IDD. He is on the executive committee for Council for Children with Behavior Disorders, a member of the National Science Teachers Association’s Special Needs Advisory Board, on the Leadership Development Committee for the CEC, president of Science Education for Students with Disabilities, and the faculty sponsor for the PSU Student CEC. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications in SPED and science education journals and has presented nationally and internationally on his varied research areas.

REHABILITATION COUNSELING FACULTY

Beatrice Lee, PhD, CRC, LPC

(she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at MSU. Her research focuses on promoting employment, psychosocial adjustment, and quality of life outcomes in people with disabilities. She has nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications. She was previously a subaward Co-PI on a $16.7M federal grant to help people with disabilities, specifically Hispanics and Veterans with disabilities, achieve quality employment. She is also a Co-I on a $15.8M federal grant to assist racial/ethnic minorities with disabilities and other underserved groups in achieving employment in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine fields.

Connie Sung, PhD, CRC, LPC (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor and Director of the Master’s program in Rehabilitation Counseling at MSU, Director of the MSU-DOCTRID Hegarty Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, and co-founder and co-director of the MSU STRIDE Center. Dr. Sung is also a Mary Switzer Fellow awarded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) and a five-time recipient of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association (ARCA) research award. Using a holistic, strength-based approach, Dr. Sung and her team develop and validate community-based psychosocial and vocational interventions to improve school-to-work transition, employment, and quality of life of individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities through interdisciplinary, interagency, and international collaborations. She has published over 80 refereed journal articles and book chapters. She is also a PI on the $15.8M STEMM-Up federal grant to assist individuals with disabilities from marginalized groups in achieving employment in STEMM fields. She is an Associate Editor of the Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin, the flagship journal of ARCA.

Allison R. Fleming, PhD, CRC (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor of Education in the Rehabilitation and Human Services and Counselor Education program at PSU-University Park campus. She has 18 years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor, educator, and researcher. She earned her doctorate in Rehabilitation Counselor Education from MSU. Dr. Fleming has worked as a rehabilitation counselor within a state vocational rehabilitation agency with a transition caseload and has focused her research in the areas of higher education and supports for students with disabilities. She is the co-director of the inclusive PSE program (WorkLink) at PSU. Dr. Fleming has over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on educational and employment outcomes of individuals with disabilities and research related to transition aged youth with disabilities.
